I am an author, a business strategist, a professional speaker and have my own publishing company. Now I am the founder of the You Matter Most Movement! Those who know me would say that I have a large network, due to my “humble hustling” to get clients and business. I enjoy people. There are some people in my network who are standouts, based on their professionalism and always striving for excellence. Those are the people I like to be around, to help, and to encourage.
I like being known as “the encourager”. One of the top ways I encourage others is through the greeting cards I send – a handwritten note of congratulations or letting them know that their efforts were appreciated. This is a habit I have done since my 20’s.
My defining moment
The defining moment in my life was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. Life for me, after that date, was a changed perspective. I knew that I had to stay focused on what mattered: people, tasks, books, food, just about anything.
People mattered to me or they didn’t. I did not have time or patience to deal with those who were only out for themselves. I remember going to a meeting with a local businesswoman who spoke non-stop about herself for 90 minutes with barely a question about me, my life or my business. I walked away from that meeting deciding that I did not matter to her. She only mattered to herself. As such, she is not someone who is in my inner circle. I am ok with that.
The “What Matters Most Right Now” began as a key phrase when my mom was dying with cancer. I would fly from Texas to Florida for a long weekend every two weeks. As soon as I walked into her condo, I asked myself “what matters most right now?” to make those three days impactful and to be fully present.
The seed of the “You Matter Most” idea came from the five words I live by.
“What Matters Most Right Now” .
What I do for a living
I speak professionally to audiences on productivity, how to use time most effectively. I conduct workshops on productivity to the public and corporate audiences. Two of my books are on productivity.
The concept of “What Matters Most Right Now;” is the main question to ask yourself to stay on track, prioritize, and keep the focus. Productivity is not about the clock — it is about our mindset.
You Matter to Me Greeting Cards
I looked online and local card stores for a card that communicated — You Matter. Some had too many words that did not fit what I wanted to convey. Some were too sappy. Some not enough.
My creative and entrepreneurial spirit said to me, “Lauren, create this for yourself and others”. Thus, the new company, Yes You Matter to be the cornerstone for the You Matter Movement.
A single mom to two amazing adult children, live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a DTM in the Toastmaster world, business consultant to CEO’s and a professional speaker on Productivity.

Mission Statement of the You Matter Movement is simple. To be a part of it, you embrace and are encouraged to write in your own handwriting the raw, authentic words from your heart to those who matter. The card may be kept for one day, one year or one lifetime. But once you have done that simple step, they know how you feel. Reach out to all that matter to you.
